Levanah That was a can't-bring-myself-to-even-start-it book for me. I was lost at "Love means never having to say you're sorry." To me, love means *always* being willing to say you're sorry, over and over again. We all act like a**holes; truly loving seems to me to involve being willing to say we have, once again, and that we truly regret the pain that has caused. My mother would always apologize. My father never did. Guess which one knew more about loving, and taught me well.

Kate I couldn't agree with you more, Levanah. A friend of mine recently quoted someone as saying "A good marriage is the union of two forgivers." I'd say the same about friendships, partnerships, or any other form of togetherness between two living people. So glad your mom taught you so well.

Be well,
