Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World is a cute book, the kind of book you would give to a grandparent or middle school kid. Dewey is found in the book deposit box on a cold January day in Iowa. Vicki Myron, the librarian, decides to make him into a library cat. The townspeople come to love him and he loves Vicki through the ups and downs of her life. I liked this book better than Marley & Me because there is more of a reason to write a book about Dewey, who had an unusual life and gained fame as far away as Japan. It does make me bitter that a writer could toil away at their craft for years to no reward or write a book about his/her dog and make a fortune. Maybe I should write a book about my dog.
