liked it

As with so many of her other books, I love the vivid imagery Anne Rice's writing conveys, which takes you back in time and makes you feel as if you're looking at the world as it existed back then, from the interactions with the Roman rulers to the physical landscape of the area. This book tells the story of Christ's early years, from the perspective of Jesus. This was an approach I've rarely seen, and it did make the book more interesting, but I was disappointed in the story line itself, which seems to deviate little, if any, from standard Catholic teachings. While this was categorized as a work of fiction, it has the familiar feel of a story told by a true believer, who hopes to convince the reader that these events really did take place as described.
