it was amazing

This is the traditional Christmas story told with a distinct twist. It is told from the perspective of the innkeeper that allowed Mary and Joseph to stay in his stable, even though he still charged the full room rate.
The innkeeper is a grumpy individual who like many others at that time, in that area, has a low opinion of tax-collectors. He complains of having only room in his broom cupboard for a tax-collector and tells of a neighbour down the road who puts a tax-collector in a chicken coop. So, as one can see there is a kind of tongue-in cheek humour running through this story.
The inn-keeper was woken first by Mary and Joseph, then again by Joseph looking for a small blanket for the new baby, then thirty shepherds, followed by the three wise men, and lastly by some angels. By the time the angels came the inn-keeper was at the end of his tether and he went to see what was going on in the stable. He was very annoyed but when he saw Baby Jesus a feeling of calmness and peace came over him.
I loved the uniqueness of telling an old, well-known story in a different way. This is one nativity play calling out to be acted. I also loved the Christmassy cover with its festive colours, bells and holly.
