I was honestly rather disappointed with this book. The idea of the main character suffering from Tourette's Syndrome was interesting at first, but really had no impact on the story except as being an interesting side-note. The plot was pretty basic - a variation on the "Goodfellas" idea, with a little less character focus and more of a murder-mystery plot. Still, it definitely had a charm. Lethem has a great flow to his prose, and it was a nice tip-of-the-hat to the old hardboiled, noir novels.
