really liked it
bookshelves: graphic-novels

An unexpected find--- I picked this up from the graphic novel collection at my local library and hadn't expected to like it. In the end, I found myself quite taken with it. It's about family and loss and admitting to love and loyalty in a small country, a place where sudden violence can happen at any moment. An Israeli cabdriver searches for his estranged father, who may have been killed in a suicide bombing. He meets the much, much younger girl who was his father's girlfriend, and they try to negotiate finding out whether the boy's father really is dead...and a prickly attraction to one another. It's not story with any sentimentality or overt politics, but there's a lot to discover here. Very much worth recommending.
