18 Things (My So Called Afterlife, #1)

What can I say? Jamie Ayres has written a masterpiece. She knocked me on my rear end with a fantastic story of love and hope, conviction, sadness. Wow. Just wow. She is definitely one of my favorite authors.
18 Things is such an emotional journey. A haunting tale. A gripping roller coaster ride of emotions. It had me in tears almost from the beginning and the story didn't let up, though there was a slight, fun break in the middle. Still, by the end, I was a whirling dervish of emotion. Laughing, crying.
The teen voice is spot on in this book. The author, who is a teacher by day, has an advantage in being able to tune into the way teens talk and interact and it comes across loud and clear in 18 Things.
If you loved The Fault in Our Stars, you're going to love 18 Things. I have since read the second story in the series, 18 Truths, and it is just as phenomenal. Definitely an author to watch.
