** spoiler alert ** This book wasn't exactly what I thought it would be. When I picked it up I thought that it would be a fun little romantic read. It turned out to be way more.

Haven is a woman in love for the first time and brings home her boyfriend to meet her family and to attend her brothers wedding. While taking a break from the celebration she sees her boyfriend go into the family wine celler and follows him for a little romantic interlude. Turns out that it isn't her boyfriend, but a handsome guy that she saw at the wedding. He invites her away for some romance, but she thinks she is in love with her boyfriend and turns him down. Her family hates her boyfriend and she feels that they are wrong and decides to head off for a elopement.

After they are married for a while there are some signs that start showing up about her new husband. After a time he starts to isolate her, degrade her, demand perfection etc. Then there is some physical abuse that soon escalates to all out beating. She escapes from him with some help from her brother and his friends.

Now that she is finally safe from her new ex-husband she is starting a new life including a new job. After going out for a drink with friends she runs into her old friend from the wine celler, Hardy Cates. He is definately interested in Haven but after a romatic moment she has a panic attack and Hardy is confused. They try to work through their issues and together they find hope for the future.

This is a book that was a surprise but ended up being something really special.
