This book comes with a CD loaded with a good selection of podcasting software, but while the CD is a great idea, a reader might be better served reading up on the actual process elsewhere. The trouble with this particular book is that while it seems to be targeting the podcasting novice, the dry, verbose textbook-style delivery is not very encouraging and strips some of the fun out of what should be an exciting and dynamic process. There are some very good, useful practical solutions here and the process for setting up a podcast is all there, but all of that is going to be of no use if the average reader isn't motivated enough to plow through it.

For the skimmer, Section 4, "Planning Your Podcast" may be the strongest with its solid advice on incorporating music without falling afoul of copyright and how to structure a show to create a stronger program.
