Shanghai Girls (Shanghai Girls #1)
Mar 23, 2009
I haven't read Lisa See's previous best-selling books but the woman can certainly tell a story. I can understand why she is such a popular author. While the story was engaging and full of (I am sure given the author's credentials) historical accuracy, I found some of the dialog pretty melodramatic. Especially the later years--the 50's when Mao began to influence Chinese history. All-in-all, though, a great weekend read.
