Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is truly a gifted writer. His prose is crisp and efficient and he can convey the emotions of his characters with only a sentence or two. Scenes are set vividly, and the supposedly haunted moor alongside the Baskerville estate is so well portrayed I could almost feel its cold wind and hear the distant baying of the hound.
