it was amazing
bookshelves: urban-fantasy

If you haven't read the first three books in this series, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! Go and do it. Now.

For dark, gritty urban fantasy, Stacia Kane cannot be beaten. She's in fine form again here in book 4 of the Downside Ghosts series. In fact, I would say this is one of the best books to date. Chess is still struggling to deal with the consequences of her ill-considered actions in the first two books of the series, as well as her growing drug addiction and her relationship with the Church.

The relationship between Chess and Terrible is strained and difficult and intense and beautifully portrayed. We also learn more about Chess's background, which Kane does a great job of revealing without delving into too much exposition or back-story.

All in all, a great addition to the series.
