Chris's Reviews > A Year in Provence
by Peter Mayle
A pleasant book. No big mood swings. No joyous celebrations. No tragic deaths. Just an English couple and their light misadventures moving to the beautiful region in the south of France.
It does, however, push aside some of the romantic notions of throwing it all away to live in the beautiful French countryside. There's more peasants here than le nouveau riche. But you grow to like these characters and appreciate how the Mayles came to appreciate their quirky neighbors.
