This book should be subtitled Harry Potter for Dummies. First, the book has no originality. All it does is take pieces of Greek myths and shove them into a modern setting with a 12 year old hero. Second, the book assumes the reader is stupid. For example, one of the early mysteries is what god sired the hero. It is one of Zeus, Poseidan, or Hades. The only major clue is the repeated connection of hero with water. Hmmm... If you find that to be a real stumper, this may be a good book for you.

Third, there is a subplot where the hero doesn't get along with his father so the solution is to murder his father. I realize this is consistent with Greek myths, but I find this disturbing in a book aimed at elementary school children.
