i hated it. 'as the world turns' does columbine. too much focus on hair and romance and everyone being perfectly crafted and not enough realism. the opposite of what van sant did with elephant. in fact, if ninteen minutes became a movie, the soundtrack would be one of those plasticky, overworked orchestral jobs (think liar liar) that tries too hard to manipulate the viewer's feelings, rather than allowing a beautiful screenplay do the trick. it's plastic and doesn't seem to take the subject very seriously, which i find rather offensive. picoult is more suited for cheesy romance novels. i wished i had borrowed the book and would love my money back.
