Whoa, I still can't get over the honesty in these pages. A sordid side of American culture in the 50's, comprised of poverty, prostitution, alcoholism, drugs, sexual perversion - a far cry from Leave it to Beaver. This book must have had a lot of people up in arms with its publication. Not for the faint of heart, to be sure.
