What a sweet story! Having grown up in a small town (400 people) in a farming community, I appreciated the author's description of small-town dynamics and especially the effect of the farm crisis of the 1980s. I also very much enjoyed learning more about how libraries are run, and also about the personal challenges the author faced. Most of all, though, I loved Dewey's personality and his uncanny ability to react to people's needs. I recommend this book!
