really liked it

The book is more of a prequel to the GoW games chronicling events leading up to E Day. The book is actually told in the past and the present, following Delta Squad on a mission to evacuate a food processing plant and chronicling how Marcus Fenix first met Dom Santiago and Fenix's decision to join the COG and become a Gear. Marcus's deep friendship with Dom's older brother Carlos is a big part of the story, and most definitely gives insight into why Marcus always seems so unemotional and aloof. Readers also get a glimpse of Marcus's relationship with his father, which is less than cordial. Marcus and Hoffman also get a chance to clear the air between them after the evacuation mission. The "present" story takes place a few months after the lightmass bombing in GoW 1. If you're a fan of the game, and want to learn more about the characters, pick it up.
