The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog: And Other Stories from a Child Psychiatrist's Notebook
If the Judith Herman book is my Trauma Bible, then this book will certainly be my Child Trauma Bible. It offers invaluable information on the complex effects of early trauma and the methods for treating such patients, but presents them through the poignant stories of actual cases. In this context, the information is that much more memorable. Many of the details are horrifying and tragic, but these details do not overshadow the individuals who survivied the experiences or the lessons that they offer. This book--the persons depicted and the lessons learned--will stay with you.
