really liked it
bookshelves: made-me-cry, nonfiction

A beautiful, heartfelt portrait of the flagraisers, their lives, their experiences in the battle of Iwo Jima, and how that battle changed them. James Bradley has an honest, understanding voice, perfect for the reverent, true tone of the book. This book brought me greater respect and admiration for the soldiers serving my country, and a wish that war would never happen again.
