a) This is disaster porn. The first disaster is Katrina. The second disaster is the US Security State of Paranoid Repression.

b) That second disaster makes the True Story Behind The Story irrelevant. It doesn't matter one iota about what kind of character Zeitoun really was. Because the US Security State of Paranoid Repression is illegitimate. No one deserves this kind of repression. Not even the worst rapist murderer terrorist younameit.

c) I thought it was about the Katrina disaster so I was going to write about my own experience with natural disaster (a tornado when I was 12) and the kind of community that responded. But,

d) It is actually about the same Security State which right now we (but not me, I mean many folks) think is going to save us from Rump. Ie, the undemocratic repressive branches of the Deep State like the FBI and CIA which are in no manner answerable to the public nor in any way responsive to democratic mechanisms. Much like Rump.

e) It's not and never has been about The Gov'ment v. The People. It's always and only been a question about what kind of government. [that was going to be my anarchist speel linked with the above c) but that will have to just remain with the unwritten portion of this review]

W.D. Clarke Bring on the speel!

It would've been disappointing. It would've made mention of the Amish. No molotovs or anything like that.

W.D. Clarke Don't sell the Amish short, or the Molotovs long! Credit Default Swaps, short them.

Nathan "N.R." Gaddis I'm usually in the habit of over=selling the Amish.

Gabriel Congdon I'm usually in the habit of over-selling the Amish, that's hilarious. I sometimes see Mennonites on the train, with their floral dresses and leather jackets; they're a worldly lot.

Nathan "N.R." Gaddis Gabriel wrote: "they're a worldly lot. "

The worldly ones you wouldn't be able to identify on the train.

Gabriel Congdon Because they'd be cars?! What if I said it was a link-light.
