A slightly slow start, with a slightly frustrating back-and-forth chronology, which shifts to a fast-paced driven narrative towards the inevitable confrontation.

Now, I’m very much working on the basis that this is book 2 in a trilogy. There are too many open questions, too much that could still yet happen, for this to be a close on the Villains series. And if so, I might even be keener for VE Schwab to finish writing Victorious than I am for her to finish work on the first in the new Threads of Power trilogy…
