The translation I read is by William Scott Wilson.

I need to reread and outline this book. There are lots of things to learn from this book, many of which are probably unlearn-able on the first reading and without serious meditation (read "austere practice"). As I know nothing of sword-fighting, a lot of it will never make sense, but many of the topics are common among martial arts. Musashi's intelligent grasp of deep principles and the difficulty in their communication, as well as his wholly focused pursuit of conquering the opponent, make him a good instructor and an interesting figure in history.
