it was amazing
bookshelves: classic, ya, adult-books-for-teens

For a while I claimed to like Franny and Zooey better than Catcher in the Rye. I might still. It's hard to say. This is a great dialogue between a brother and sister about what purpose and happiness mean. There are different theories about why Franny has a nervous breakdown... maybe she's pregnant. I think John Updike thought the Franny of the first part is a different person than the one in the second part. I'm pretty sure that's entirely wrong. Anyway.... I think Franny just gets tired of the same old shit. Who hasn't been there?
