it was amazing
bookshelves: adult-fiction

So I haven't read a book yet by Lois McMaster Bujod that I haven't liked. She is a master of both science fiction and fantasy and continues to keep my interest throughout both worlds. Her writing is tersely styled and yet contains excellent character development while building her page turning plots. Her skill has been rewarded with numerous Hugo awards that she readily deserves and I am fascinated with the amount of writing that she does and how her stories interweave. This particular book adds more layers to her fantasy kingdom, creating hallowed kings, a clash of cultures and magics, and history creeping into the present through visions and mysteries. I particularly like her take on "the Gods" and how her characters become unwilling(and willing) vessels. It speaks to all who have struggled with religions presence in their lives and sates a true fantasy enthusiast's need for glorious epic seen through characters who's actions both surprise and satisfy.
