3.75 stars. This installment is really hard to rate. For the first half, I was simply bored,, and waiting for something to happen. Then, stuff started to happen at about the half way point, but it didn't really racket up until the last 1/3 of the book. My initial fears from reading some early reviews were somewhat allayed, and the ending was not really that much of a "surprise" ending. Knowing there are 2 books left in the series, I wonder what will happen in the next installment but I'm not shocked or worried. All in all, though, this was one of the weaker of the Morganville books, and I have a feeling its because this story should have already come to an end by now. Fifteen books total makes a kind of rounded out number of books, but I would have been happy with 12 total. I'll still pre-order book #14 and #15, because I am completely invested in these characters now, and I need to see if Claire and Shane, and Michael and Eve get the happy ending they totally deserve by now!
