Beautifully written and very surreal. Two characteristics that should make John Haskell's American Purgatorio an automatic favorite of mine. However, something was missing, that I can't put my finger on. Maybe Haskell wants that feeling among readers since that is what the narrarator of the novel is going through himself. However, it just left me apathetic at the end.
