really liked it

An accessible and practical introduction to rationalism, full of real-life examples of people changing their minds, adjusting their view of the world, and - remarkably - debating respectfully and constructively online.

It’s telling that the book is written more as a manifesto than an academic treatise because the quality of social sciences research is so poor, but also a sign of strength for the model of thinking Galef advocates. However, one of the best bits of evidence is the rigour with which she takes Spock from Star Trek to task for his rigid soldier mindset.

By coincidence, this made a good companion piece to Apocalypse, How? by Oliver Letwin.
