it was ok

This is a very quick read--for me, only 2 or 3 hours. Slapstick is a pretty good title, though I also would have been OK with Farce.

Though this isn't Vonnegut's best work, it reminded me a lot of Mark Twain, though not because of any stylistic similarities; people forget how bitter both of these men became as they grew older. There isn't much here to redeem mankind, so it's the equivalent of eating a lemon: it's occasionally pleasant to have that sour pucker effect, but you wouldn't want all the books you read to be like that.
