it was amazing

Excellent non-fiction book which documents the life of Charles Homer Martin, Ann Forrester (daughter of First Fleeter, Robert Forrester) and their children. This book is very well researched and documented, with a comprehensive index, 106 Illustrations, 23 maps, excellent endnotes and extensive bibliography. For anyone who is a descendant of Charles & Ann Martin, this book will save you the effort of extensive research as Louise has done it all, and done it brilliantly, although you will still need to follow the document trail for yourself.

However, it is much more than just a family history. By following the lives of this family a picture of life in the early Hawkesbury region is revealed. By the time I finished reading this book I felt as if I had lived through those early times with my ancestors and endured their struggles. I highly recommend also reading Louise's 'Robert Forrester, First Fleeter'.
