I am now reviewing Canto 30. There are no cracks in his logic, nor does he neglect an opportunity to dazzle me with the perfection of his poetry. I am afraid my students are not realizing how contemporary yet classic his style is: no one will have trouble reading or understanding it. Read out loud, the poetry sparkles. One student has the Pinsky edition, and that seems to echo the original terza rima more effectively than the Ciardi translation. I love the poet and pilgrim questions they ask, though I would like to see them ask more questions than I do. I guess we'll keep working on that. Next is the giant Lucifer, numb in his ice hell.
