I'm not a fan of the espionage genre, but a friend gave this to me for Christmas. It's an involved (but not boring) tale of modern terrorism that includes the Vatican, Israel, USA and Saudi Arabia. Obviously, I have no idea how realistic the portrayals of espionage and terrorism are, but they did read very well. I cared about most of the characters and the plot was fast-paced and interesting. Most of all, if the author's note and his inclusion of USA money and Saudi oil in the plot are true, then we, as Americans, need to extricate ourselves from Saudi influence (oil).
