A group of high school friends 20+ years later reunite for a wedding in Dec. at one of the friend's newly restored home/Inn in New England. Rather than tell the story from one of the many in attendance, the story is told by many of them and consequently, one gets a more complete point of view into their lives now and then. The book quickly reminded me of why High School is not a place I'd return to, why families are complicated and why friendship can last years but still not fill all the gaps in our lives. As the story is told, one of the characters is writing a novel about a tragic event during the war (which One or Two?) and that story within a story just sucked me right in too. I found myself racing for my ipod while I did chores that required little thought so I could "read" while I worked.
