If you love stories told in the sweeping, articulate style of master storyteller Dr Seuss (Theodor S Geisel), you will love this engaging picture book by Australian author, Robin Adolphs.

Ms Adolphs captures perfectly the fun, excitement and absolute chaos of a neighbourhood 'bike race' that features all manner of craft - bikes, scooters, skateboards and even a tricycle! The beautiful illustrations show exactly what happens as things get out of control when the mad keen racers lose control along the way. The ending has a wonderful twist that you can't see coming, and it completes the story perfectly.

I had the privilege of attending the launch of this picture book in July 2012, and can attest that the print version is just beautiful. The illustrations by Trevor Salter also transfer well to the Kindle version of the book, which means that readers of electronic copies of the story won't miss the fun of the printed original.

The Pile Up is a story that the whole family will enjoy, and I highly recommend it.
