(Children's Graphic Novel- Contemporary Realism) As a librarian, I try to read the books that are popular among children and teens. Knowing that this series is hugely popular, I finally got around to reading it. As the illustrated diary of teen Greg Heffley, Greg shares the ins and outs of his life: his thoughts, his mischief, his relationships with his older and younger brothers, his friendships, and his feeble attempt to impress girls. This book is so funny. The illustrations and writing truly seem like a young teens and Kinney embraces the awkwardness, the mischief, and the hilarity of being a young teen trying to figure out life.
