I started this last night while watching a movie on TV. And with commercials every ten minutes for three hours, well, I got a lot of reading done.

I was glad that it was really different. I enjoy books that have a different sort of reality about them. The Devouring definitely had that.

And paranoia. You have no idea who's a Vour and who's not. It's always interesting when the author can surprise you with those twists.

The only real qualms I have is that sometimes the fear thing stretches on for too long. The ending "climax" lasted for roughly 40-50 pages, which wasn't good in this case. It made it seem slow.

There's also the problem that you can't tell what is real and what is in someone's head. That was troublesome, but I can see where the Holt might do that on purpose, so I'm not going to say that it was a serious problem.
