I loved the darling little cat in this book. Its personality was so charmingly and sweetly drawn by the artist, it made me want to go out and get a cat :) of course, how could you know if it would have the wonderful disposition of this one? hmmmmmm . . .

I found the illustrations fascinating. The picture that accompanies the first "Song of the Housekeeper" shows a tired and work-worn woman. Once good fortune falls on the household, her whole demeanor changes, and she is absolutely beautiful in the other illustrations.

My favorite part is where the author admits that the artist craves the respect of the cat. I was glad to see he appreciated the cat's taste!
