Nick and Norah is a classic romance. The novel has a breathless pace, with many ups and downs throughout the night and a happy ending. I enjoyed the NYC setting and the quirky characters. Conversations/thoughts run from the Olsen twins, to the Beatles and the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. What I did not like was the language, which I thought was excessive and did not add to the story.

My favorite part of the book is when Tris and Norah are talking about why Tris broke up with Nick. Tris seems heartless but she is honest about her feelings. She likes Nick but doesn’t love him and understands that Nick wants more than she can give. She explains to Nick “You think I hurt you? Well, I could have hurt you so much more.” Norah and Tel never really loved each other, but they’re not honest with each other and wind up in a bad relationship for years.
