really liked it

A Delicious Dilemma was a super sweet morsel of a romance, with a fiery heroine who'd do anything to save her neighborhood from the encroaching developers trying to take over and gentrify the area, and a cinnamon roll hero — who's next in line to take over one of those development companies — and who'd do anything for her.

I love a MC who's completely gone for their love interest as soon as they meet them, and Philip was definitely GONE for Val after just a couple of minutes of talking to her. Philip knew it was a mistake to hide his real identity the first night they met, but he couldn't find the courage to see the look in Val's eyes change from interest to disdain. However, Philip puts in work to make up for it, which we love to see.

Val's been hurt in the past so trust doesn't come easily for her, but she can't deny the pull she feels towards Philip — even after finding out who he really is. When Philip shows he's willing to work with the community to create a new proposal that benefits both the neighborhood and his company, she can't help but spend more time with him. (All in the name of saving her family's building of course...absolutely NO other reason.) But some attractions are too strong to deny and Val is faced with an impossible decision: protect her heart or take the leap and learn to trust again.

A Delicious Dilemma felt like a cozy Hallmark movie, except everyone actually did what I wanted them to do and, despite the heat being bit lower than what I am used to, they do in fact bang. I loved the chemistry between Val and Philip as well as the dynamics between Val's family and Philip's friendship with his bestie Étienne (whom I need to know more about please and thank you!).

The only warning I have? Be prepared to leave hungry. Food is Val's life and she loves the Puerto Rican food she makes for her patrons and family alike. I'm stilling thinking about pan tres leches tbh.

I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
