What would it take to convince her parents, the King and Queen, to let her decide for her own life?
Believe me, Nisha, I wondered the same thing while I was reading this book. This is the charm of a book that contains a force or arrange marriage; it without a doubt always makes me curious how the main character strives for their life, to make a decision themself.
What I like about this book:
1. The book has a Map!
2. Magical Forest!? Yes!
3. All of the characters in the book are likable and don't forget we have a strong female character here. Nisha.
4. We begin the book with a story about Faris's childhood, and in the middle, we get a story about The Fisherman. I loved it when a book contains short stories about some of the characters or moments. It helps us understand their background and makes us connected and understand them more. When I read about The Fisherman Story, I firmly believe that the author has a solid talent for writing children's books or middle-grade novels. Her writing style reminds me of some of the famous children's books I read in the past.
5. And a guide about Nisha's Universe at the end of the chapter!? This is so helpful for people who are not good with names like me.
"Ahead, all matters of sea life, from large fishes to small crabs and shrimps, surged as an army towards Sacred Rock, working together to topple the ship... Large animals held back while the smaller ones sped forward by the thousands..."
When I'm reading, I always Imagine every scene in my head like a movie. And this scene above is quite epic. An army of fish, crabs, and shrimps!? Hell yes!
The Nisha Trilogy by Airin Efferin has much potential even though some people might not enjoy it, especially if you're not fond of a fast-paced book or don't like being rush while reading. And I want to know more about this arrange marriage, how Nisha will convince her parents. Is she has a plan? Last, I want to know more about characters' feelings and expressions. Are they scared? is their heart beating so fast with fear or with love? Are they doubt with every action they take? Are they nervous until they were sweating and their palm cold like a block of ice? are they frowned or laughed till their stomach hurt? I want to know it all.
