"The first time my husband hit me I was nineteen years old."

What an intense way to start a powerful and feeling novel.

Throughout this book, it was nearly impossible not to realize and empathize with the horrors that some women, children and families go through everyday.

Some have commented that this book was repetitive. I felt that it was showing the intrusive nature of abuse; how it constantly repeats through one's head. The intensity lessening a bit every time but the hurt, pain, confusion still there.

This book was a little "Lifetime movie" for me but more like one with Shannen Doherty that is so "Lifetimey" that it is good.
