Colleen Hoover is a really talented writer, and this was a fast read that pulled me in and didn’t let me go. I would usually have given a book I felt this invested in more stars, but it was just so disturbing. Honestly, I probably would have given it four stars if I hadn’t read the version with the epilogue, because somehow the epilogue was more disturbing and awful. I wish she’d just left the ending as it was. Also, the sex scenes just felt…idk. They didn’t always fit, they didn’t forward the plot, at least not enough to justify the quantity and detail given. And I never actually got a good feel for who Lowen actually is outside of her reclusive awkwardness. Why exactly was Jeremy attracted to her beyond the physical? Now that I think about it, three stars is exactly what this book deserves. It’s a really well done plot, but there are weaknesses. Also, I know this is nit picking, but the author uses the phrase “over a decade years’ worth,” and it made my teeth hurt.
