it was amazing
bookshelves: bio-memoirs, asian

Finally found this on cd and have neglected my laundry, dishes and family to listen to it non-stop. I'm hanging on every word. The style of writing is very clean, like Hemingway, and even more masterfull. The descriptions of the palaces, the gardens, architecture and embroidered robes are so well crafted I find this book to be visually stunning. (In my mind's eye) It never gets too dark like some memoirs and bio's do. There are no horrible rape scenes or torture. Bad things happen, and she lets you know about them without shoving it down one's throat. I really really like it.
