really liked it

The book starts of seemingly like a typical romance novel and I wasn't sure how the last 4/5ths of the book could carry on since the story seemed to have hit the typical or rather classical "romance novel ending"; but the whole plot underwent interesting developments every few chapters to give the entirety of the book a captivating story. Being a historical novel, the book was well written and illuminates daily elements of Roman culture. Daughters of Rome is another book written by the author that is a completely independent story but the characters in that book are mentioned a few times in Mistress of Rome so if one wanted to read the general story in order then Daughters of Rome would be the first of the authors books to read.
