This is a book about two restless children that find a game in the park and decide to play. But the game doesn't end up being as simple or fun as they assume it will be, and they end up going through an adventure just to finish the game. I love the eerie beauty of the black and white drawings. As with a number of Van Allsburg books, it seems almost a little too scary for children, but I think that it's something children will enjoy, especially if they enjoy a little suspense. This is a really creative idea and leaves the audience wondering if it really happened or if everything was just in the children's imagination. It shows that imagination is a place that might not be all cheerful and sunshine, but that children's imaginations can be a dark place as well. Children can scare themselves too, but they can also save themselves from the things that scare them.
