Infuriatingly circular. Oh, Ong, you made some good points, but this read surprisingly pretentious considering the subject matter. You're writing about a people who had not concept of a dictionary (never mind scholarship), and yet I found myself referring to one about 10 times per page. I suppose this book is still worthy of forcing upon an unsuspecting student. Learned masochism is part of the college experience, right? Besides, I guesssss he did make me think a lil bit.
