The Lost Apothecary
This book is split between the 1790s, featuring a female apothecary who dispenses poisons for clients who need to kill a man, and the present day, featuring a woman who I really wanted to like but just could not. She befriends a librarian at the British Library and frankly, it would have been a more believable book if the librarian was the only contemporary character. It is a fast read, and the 1790s portion is fun, so you may still want to pick this up. But I was disappointed.
