So far, I'm enjoying this. But initially I was really thrown by the use of the present tense. I don't usually have a problem with books written in the Now, but they work best for contemporary teen fiction. Used in a historical fiction book, the present tense seems like a trendy cliche.

I picked this up again in spring of 2014, and read to page 133, Chapter 4. I drew cartoons of each character to help me keep track, and that helped. I would love to do a graphic novel retelling of this!
