it was amazing
bookshelves: writing-books

Although aimed at younger readers, Writing Magic has plenty of wisdom for new writers of any age. Carson Levine is an encouraging teacher whose enthusiasm for writing shines through on every page. There are no ugly "writing rules" in this book, and for that I give the author an extra star. Carson Levine talks the reader through character, plot, ideas, connecting with the reader, conflict and how to dig deeper into the story. She gives good advice on ignoring the voices and what to do when you are stuck.

With plenty of examples from published books to illustrate her point she communicates the practice of writing with ease and humour. While I didn't learn anything new, I wish I'd had this book when I was starting out.
