I've never read an "educational" book with such a gripping storyline. Is this fiction or non-fiction? It's kind of a hybrid.

A lot of the principles taught in this book are now mainstream, so can be seen as common sense, but I'm sure they were somewhat revolutionary 20 years ago. I'm sure many people would find operations efficiency practices quite boring, but I eat this stuff up.

Knowing what the goal is and focusing all decisions and actions on it is not only good practice in the factory but in life, as the alternate storyline about this manager's relationship with his wife portrays.

A must read for anyone even remotely involved in operations.
